The 2009 Canadian Mountain Biking National Championships take place in St-Félicien July 11-12. Marie-Hélène Prémont, Catherine Pendrel, and Emily Batty should animate the womens race while Max Plaxton, Derek Zandstra, and Geoff Kabush should contest for the crown in the men's race. Cyclingdirt will be in town for the event to provide full race coverage!
Can't count the number of times I have seen Geoff win races when he was either sick or was not the strongest rider. It is one of the things that true champions have in common.
Men's race in the books! What a good one. Kabush takes it with a last minute attack from a group of three including Plaxton and Zandstra. Plaxton came close to closing it down but ended up second with Zandstra 3rd. Shamo rode his Jamis in for a solid 4th while Andrew Watson had one of the best rides of the day to take 5th. Behind, Matt Hadley was 6th, Eric Batty 8th, Steph Widmer 9th, Peter Glassford 10th, Adam Morka 11th... Raph takes the U23 race and climbs up to 7th overall after starting 1 minute down. Full results and coverage coming soon!...
Catherine Pendrel wins! Marie Helen-Premont 2nd more than 3 min. down. Amanda Sin rode a great race for 3rd. Emily Batty easily won the women's U23 race and rode up to 4th overall after starting 1min down on the field. Her time was possibly faster than Sin's overall. I'll check...
