On November 15, 2009 the people at Takeover LA threw a race that consisted of 3 sprints and 2 sets of stairclimbs that eventually lead to a free for all race to the Bike Day LA event in Hollywood.
We decided to film the event to showcase some of our local cyclists while also creating an 8 mile visual trip through Los Angeles in a racers perspective.

Really. A bunch in whiners? I would say a bunch of cyclist who apparently have more to live for, have a greater value on the law and safety of others. It is truly selfish to put others at risk!!

Take care everybody

Aparrently we are not winning you over, Stanley. Good luck with screw the establishment role. Regarding the whiner comment , you are probably right as my wife offen says that to me.

What a bunch of whiners! What is this a VCer forum?
Crits, velodromes, these things require significantly more money and resources to do. The kids putting on these races are doing it with minimal resources and making it more accessible.
Like the Wolf Pack Hustle Crash the LA Marathon race that over 400 people showed up to. That's the future of cycling, without the stranglehold of the USAC dinosaurs.

If you want to race your bike in the city join a club and find a crit, go to a velodrome, or, if those things aren't 'urban' enough, at least sign up for some reasonably controlled alley cat race. One day some DB in skinny jeans and flannel. on a brakeless track bike, is going to wipe out a senator's family in a crosswalk and then its all over for bicycle rights. But they won't care, they'll just do that thing where they hang a leg over the handlebar and roll away. smoking and calling everyone else a 'hater'.

Sorry, CyclingDirt guys, but just needed to vent a bit...

Cool Video, but I am going to have to side with Mr.BikeDude on this one! How did they get insurance to cover that race?

I don't wear panties.. I go commando. Not sure your point has much merit, comparing a biker that might roll through a stop sign when no traffic is around to guys ripping through busy streets, in and out of cars.. putting peoples lives in danger. Not to mention setting a piss poor example for kids.

BikeDude and emk: Don't get your panties in a bunch over some red-light running. I'm sure you don't come to a complete stop at every single stop sign every time. Those who hate on bicyclists would just find something else to complain about it if suddenly every rider stopped at every single red light and stop sign.

Cool looking vid with the exception of ignoring all the traffic signals and signs... all the good things bikes bring to a community and you guys ( insert profanity here) that all up and give the rest of the bikers a bad name. Next time give it a little thought and think about others before you act.

pure selfish stupidity. !
