@Tigweld McGee: The jury is not out on Flemish vs. Dutch, so let's not go there, OK? ;-).

Just kidding. Language purists will say it is just a Dutch dialect, while Flemish nationalists like to see it as a language of its own. A lot of that is politically motivated offcourse, not based on actual language differences. It is Dutch, with a different accent and lots of different choices of words, some of which is motivated by the desire to expell French words from their language, separating themselves from the French speaking community in Belgium.

Yes, Nys had too little stopping space for the brake power that he had. He unclipped, to be able to jump off his bike to come to a stop running, but that plan ran out of space too...

It looks like he was trying to avoid crowd control barriers after a finish line with no run-out space.

A really dumb question, are the commentators speaking Flemmish or Dutch, or ????
