Mens' race, Vail, Colorado. Video archive from the 1994 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Vail, Colorado, USA.

From BMX racing in the 1970s to mountain bike endurance racing in the 21st century, David “Tinker” Juarez has become one of the most enduring and popular figures in cycling. With his trademark dreadlocks, Tinker is also one of the most recognizable icons of the sport. In his BMX heyday, Tinker was part of the dominant Mongoose team and was deservingly dubbed “King of the Skate Parks.” His outstanding work ethic and rigorous training schedule allowed him to make a smooth transition to mountain biking.
Tinker’s crowning achievement came as a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 1996. He is a three-time U.S. National Champion, a two-time U.S. Olympian, and a Pan Am Games gold medalist. He’s also earned three top-10 finishes in the MTB World Championships, including the silver medal in 1994. Tinker was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 2001 and was awarded the Cannondale Icon Award in 2005. Highly decorated and well-respected in the BMX arena, Tinker decided to take on the challenge of long-distance road racing. He completed the inaugural Enduro division of Race Across America, finishing third in 10 days, 22 hours, and 21 minutes. In 2006, he won the 24 Hour Solo World Championship and the National Marathon Championship. In 2008, as a member of MonaVie Cannondale, Tinker enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career. He continues to share his passion for bike racing and travels the world seeking the highest level of competition and truly epic events.
Tinker lives just a few miles from where he grew up in Los Angeles, California, and enjoys fishing and camping with his wife and son. Known for his rigorous training schedule, his daily routine has not strayed much from his days on the World Cup circuit.
