Well, if you buy into the crossresults ranking system (and I kind of do) where they take into account the quality of the field when assigning points, they believe Lindine should be ranked higher too. 150.26 points ranks him above: Schouten, McDonald, Eckmann and Sheppard. Which puts him in 10th, which strikes me as more correct than 14th.

Kabush is ranked third here for a sport that's basically a hobby to him! Interview the guy!

Colt:

I hate to lobby, but you really need to show Justin Lindine some love this week. Back to back doubles in big races. Not just wins, but convincing wins. Imagine if he had a big bike sponsor and a little support.

Hey Colt,

Thanks for everything your doing, great for the sport. I think you missed out Canadian U23 rider Evan Guthrie, he was top-10 at Starcrossed, 13th at Rapha GP, top-20 both days at Fort Collins............

Page Update! Just Finished 13th in a big euro Wen night race. 1:30 back from the winner and behind all the big names but still best of the rest. Looks good for maybe a top 20 at the WC this weekend. Powers could go top 10!

Hey Ashludwig.....there are probably less than 5 people on the planet with Cyclingdirt T-Shirts. I have contributed thousands of photos, 400 videos, etc.....and I had to steal one out of Colt's bedroom! Good luck getting yours.

Unacceptable 7 months ago

If Driscoll has been the picture of consistency then Luke Keough has been the absolute opposite. He was like 30th on Saturday in Prov then 2nd on Sunday... He was podiuming at Junior World Cups a couple years ago and doesn't seem like he's lived up to that in the elites. What's the deal cyclingdirt?

Colt McElwaine 7 months ago

ashludwig,

Stay tuned!

Barry,

Typo! Nice catch!

Barry 7 months ago

Colt: is there a reason Sally Annis is on your rankings twice? 13th & 14th

Barry 7 months ago

Pete: Page is back in Belgium. he raced vegas, seattle,st.louis and madison then went back. He raced the first big one in Europe but had a horrible start and then disapeard. He is getting ready for the world cups coming up.

ashludwig 7 months ago

Colt, How do I get a "Cycling Dirt" T-shirt? I want one just like you wear in your videos. Are you selling them? A sweatshirt version would be even better since it is cold now. I would wear it every day.

Where's Page been?

Colt:

Thanks for the reply and all your work promoting the sport. I generally agree with you. However you vacillate between the here and now in your rankings and historical credentials. For example your early women's rankings gave the top spot to a non-racer, based upon history. My only point is that Lindine has been the picture of consistency and appears to be on an upswing. Many riders, including Johnson, Page, Berden and others do not appear to have traction and may be on the downswing. Others are MIA. Your ranking should reflect this. But you are largely correct, that until Lindine beats the Johnsons of the world in big races, he should not pass them in the rankings. That being said, it is time for some big bike company to take notice and give him the opportunity. I would bet that he is not missing the big events by choice, it is most likely simple economics.

Thanks, again
Kevin

@Kevin,

...and that is why Colt is the Man In Charge! BOOM!

Colt McElwaine 7 months ago

Kevin,

Lindine is the real deal, I'm with you! Consider this- last year he was 11th at Nationals after a start to the year very similar to this year. Right now we have him ranked 14th. At least 7 of the men ranked above him were not in that race last year and will not be this year (euros, canadians, U23's.) Taking out the guys who will not race Nationals this year who are ranked ahead of him, we have him finishing 6th! That would be a HUGE ride for him.
With the exception of McDonald and Ben Berden (who both beat Lindine both days in Gloucester,) everyone on this list has won or been top 5 at the USGP. Lindine couldn't even go top 5 in Gloucester. I think he's right where he belongs.

Kevin Maldonado 7 months ago

Are you kidding. Lindine wins (understatement) both days at Providence and you still have him in the teens. No way. Look at his results at Vegas and Gloucester. Also, you should give some deference to riders without big bike sponsors, working their aXX off weekend after weekend and rubbing quarters together. Not right. Huele looked like a sweedish chcolate maker beat by the Hershey Kiss. Yet top ten, Driscoll 4--why.

geoff 7 months ago

Fluke mud races? are you kidding me its Cyclocross! When has Powers won a real muddy cyclocross race. Powers didnt take a commanding win in Wis. the 2nd day. On the other hand he was a complete non factor in the race on sunday with 9th. and this is after getting dropped on saturday and finishing 3rd. Besides sunday in Fort Collins, the only other time Jeremy has beat Ryan was in Vegas and they were 4th and 5th in the sprint.

Cross My Heart 7 months ago

Jeremy and Ryan were both in contention to win both days in Ft. Collins. someone here said ryan has won 3 of 5 against power this year? I know 2 of those days have been fluke mud races for the early season with day 2 in Wisconsin and day 1 in Colorado. On both of those weekend's Jeremy also took a dominating win over Ryan the other day.

If you want to look at recent results as an indicator, look no further than las titme they raced this past Sunday. Jeremy OWNED Ryan on Sunday.

Joe 7 months ago

We all know that form comes and goes so I it seems to me that the rankings need to be based on recent performance more than past performance. If you ask me Trebon is doing a better job of keeping fresh. Because of this he was in contention for the win both days in Ft Collins, J-Pow wasn't. I think Jeremy is awesome, but Trebon deserves the top spot. Either way the battle between the two is fun to watch,

Lars Boom 7 months ago

On Lindine, the guy has been riding with the front group in every race this year (including races with Powers, Berden, Johnson etc). I am guessing if the guy had a legit pro sponsor / program he would be at ever USGP and mixing it up in the top 10. Dont fault the guy for not having as much support as the big names. Also, last year he was 11th at nationals. Not bad for a guy who sticks to the east coast most of the season. Lindine may crack the top 5 this year at nationals.

Fuzzy Math 7 months ago

Yannick is 17, cyclocross racing age is 19. It's the age you will be on dec 31st of the year worlds are

Chandler Delinks 7 months ago

Yannick Eckmann is 19, no?

realist 7 months ago

Conservative on Lindine? I don't think so.. As long as guys never show up to a USGP I don't care how many US races they win, they should not crack the top 10.

You want to be in Colts top 10 race show up to the big races

Lady D 7 months ago

Nash is going to kill on the World Cup series this year! Rainbows even???

Colt McElwaine 7 months ago

@TomTom/ Driskell

I hear you both! This week was not an easy call. Both guys are more than deserving of the top spot. But this is "Who's #1?" not "Who's #1a & 1b".
