They are going to try and have the 2011 Mellow Johnny's Classic the week after Sea Otter when Texas is still cool. Also they are trying to make it a C1 UCI race which could attract some of the foreigners that race at the Sea Otter.

It was an awesome time riding this course. More fun than last November, but then again I'm a better rider now =)

Considering Sam Shultz thinks his 29er FS rig with 2.2. tires is a couple of minutes faster than his hardtail doesn't sound like a roadie course.

I was riding a single speed rigid. The camera was set in its lowest recording setting and the course is not as smooth as it looks.

You's guys crack me up. In Texas, we use real trails to race on, not ski resort jeep roads. Other than straight up and down climbs/descents (like the ski resorts), this course offers parts that utilize all the skills a pro, or amateur, mountainbiker should have. Let's see if anyone says it's too easy after the race.

If anyone thinks Mellows is a roadie course, check out the results from November and see how the Cat 1/2 roadies did. Here is the link.

Not sure that course looks World Cup worthy? From the video, looks not that technical, and rather boring....a full roadie MTB course from what I can see.

From a racer that has done all 4 races. Mellow's is more technical than Fontana or Sea Otter, less than Mt. Snow and overall about the same as Windham though it is a completely different kind of course. The heat will also make it a tough race.

It is a lot more technical than it appears in the video. Lots of rocky spots that can catch you off guard. Race it and then comment.

It's hard to tell from the video but the climbs don't look that difficult and only one rocky technical section at about the 34 to 35 minute mark--is this correct? Is this the type of course XCT riders are looking for?

Thats a big back yard!

Yikes, had to give up after a minute of painfully jumpy video. Not a very good advert for Contour HD (or were you riding rigid?).

Looks like a roadie course. Not surprising considering the trail designer : )

This is the long loop, abut 9 miles that the Cat1,2,3 will be doing. The Pro loop is a shortened version of this loop but last weekend was 7 miles X 5 laps so it is going to be shortened some more but it will be sections of the loop in the video.
