this guy is an idiot... the point of masters racing is fun , something to do on the weekends after work to get away for a few hours. Not to sandbag and be proud of yourself for being a pro mtber and training full time to beat a bunch of other guys that will go to louisville for worlds for the sake of fun and seeing the spectacle

@Josh,

I think after 40 or 45 it shouldn't matter if you have UCI points or not. I understand the rule is to keep Sven and Tim Johnson from racing masters, but if you're 45 and can still be top 10 at a UCI race, good for you!

Haters gonna hate.

Until the UCI changes the BS rules, then you'll have that. These guys (Thomas, Webber, Dwight) should be able to race their balls off, get as many UCI points as they want, then race whatever race their age allows.

Tim Johnson is 34, and Trebon is 30 this year. Should they race masters worlds? No. They're professionals. Masters racing is designed around a spirit of amateurism. Fulltimers shouldn't do part-timers races. Masters worlds emphatically will NOT demonstrate who the fastest person between x and y ages is. Mostly it will show who cares about trying to win it, and who can afford to make the trip. There are many, many guys who could podium at masters worlds and choose not to because they recognize that they are still close enough to the top of their game that they have no business claiming retirement.

you either race master or you race elites, not both. Thats the problem

How is this not in the spirit of masters racing? The whole point of masters worlds is who is the fastest person in the world between X and Y years old. He is an eligible age and therefore should race if he wants to. If anything, the rule about not being able to have UCI points is stupid. Pete Webber and Brandon Dwight did the same thing at Boulder Cup where they sat up to avoid scoring points.

bull move, bull racing. 30yr old master worlds?

Sandbagging. He wants, apparently, to race Masters World Championships on Louisville. Having UCI points disqualifies you. So his goal is to take his bad 29 year old self to Louisville, and win a masters "World Championship" jersey, all while being a pro mountain biker. Is this in the spirit of masters racing? No.

This guy rips
it up at the Georgia Cross Series races. Good to see him kick ass in NC. I'm confused about why he sat up to avoid UCI points? Somethin to do with Worlds? Maybe I am an idiot but could someone explain this to me. And props to Thomas for a great race.
