It's strange to read USA Cycling quotes that say they support mountain biking efforts in the US, but their actions seem to indicate otherwise. |

My hope is that we have both a top UCI series and the "All Mountain" series sponsored by Sho-Air. Most people are going to come to these races if there is great racing....not because of prize money. |

USA Cycling should be doing everything they can to help our top 4-5 riders, men and women. Beyond that it's nice to know the US Cup seems to be looking out for all the other riders. Ideally they would work together to achieve the best of both worlds. Unfortunately it doesn't seem USA Cycling sees it as their financial responsibility. |

What's more valuable in the US, three C3's or one C1? Seems like the price is about the same but the C1 gives 15 guys points instead of 5 guys points 3 times... Those 5 guys are racing World Cups anyway, they don't need 4 points from a C3... |

This is exciting news. Finally a series for the riders! I'm one of the guys they are talking about, and I would love to at least have a chance to cover my entry fee and pay for my gas if I can crack the top 20 or top 15 spots. |

I know Colt has touched on this before, but even with a UCI C3 in the US with points to the top five, it is more than likely that at least 2 if not 3 of those spots will be filled by Canadians. (Kabush, Plaxton, Mcgrath, Zandstra, Pendrel, Batty, Sin, etc...) So now we're talking $5,500 so that JHK can get 6 points and Todd can get 2? WFT? I wouldn't waste my money either. |

I'd rather see that money go to the 6th-25th place riders anyday. If you're one of the 4 or 5 guys who are chasing the olympics or worlds team, then go to Europe! The USA can spend 50k next year and pack the schedule with UCI C3's but that money would still be better spend sending our top riders internationally to get the big points at world cups, HC's, Pan-Am's, etc... |

Thanks for the insight Ty! I always thought USA Cycling would pay for doping control since they are the governing body.. |

I agree with Kady. As a promoter its not about the $5K to host a UCI C3 event, its is it worth the extra time and effort it takes to work with the UCI officials and USA Cycling? |

I've got to agree with shoair, all that money for 5 deep UCI points seems like a waste. It's USA cycling's job to see that riders earn points towards the Olympics, why aren't they paying for it? or at least sharing the costs?? |

To be fair, I don't know anything about putting on a race, but 5,500 doesn't sound like that much. Kind of shows how little everyone thinks about UCI races in the states. If promoters thought a UCI race would bring in all the big names, 5,500 would be worth it. (like in cross) |
