Round two of the Men's Trailwatch.net Short Track Series took place Friday evening in Colorado Springs. Despite several teams and riders choosing to sit this round out, the starting line was packed full with of riders looking to test their form ahead of Saturday's XC. On a course that allowed practically no room for passing, it was Todd Wells how jumped ahead off the line. Wells was quickly joined by a chasing group inclusing JHK, Decker, Sam Schultz, Troy Wells, Geoff Kabush, Andy Schultz, and Adam Craig. Only a couple laps in, Wells and JHK used the steep climb mid way through the lap to separate themselves from the chasers. Behind, chaos ensued. Troy Wells quickly faded from the front group while Sam Schultz, admittedly struggling technically, hit a rock and punctured. Colorado Springs local Colin Cares, or "Care Bear" as his fans preferred, rode his way up through the pack to settle into 6th, just off the back of the Kabush, Craig, Decker trio. All the while, Ryan Trebon, who was mistakenly slotted at the rear of the group at the start, rode his way through 90% of the pack to reach the top 10. With 3 laps to go Wells' punch on the climb proved to much for JHK. Todd rode across the line solo taking his second consecutive ST win this season. JHK (2), Geoff Kabush (3), Adam Craig(4), and Carl Decker(5) rounded out the podium.

The lap cards were all messed up. Instead of counting down (5 to go, 4 to go, 3,2,1...) there were apparently trying to project the number of minutes remaining in the race. (7 minutes to go, 5 minutes to go, 2 minutes...) Didn't make much sense... See his Post Race Interview below...

what did Kabush mean by that comment at the end of the race?
