With the maple leaf jersey and a year of bragging rights on the line, Canada's top women mountain bikers lined up for the 2012 National Championships in Saint-Felicien. Marie-Helene Premont set a blistering pace out of the start loop, but was soon brought back by the definding Canadian and World champion, Catharine Pendrel. Pendrel went on to solo the last 4 laps to victory. Premont was able to hold second and take a huge win of confidence ahead of Emily Batty in third. All three will face off next weekend at the Canadian round of the World Cup.
