So, yeah... Jeremy Powers 1st at C3. Trebon 3rd.

Still think Trebon is #1?

Maybe if road racing got a personality like this I would care. Thanks Cyclingdirt for making cross so awesome.

@truth,

Who are you talking about?? Doesn't help much wirhout a name?

Some of you clowns take this ranking to seriously. It's supposed to be fun. You want serious rankings go to uci.ch

the truth 7 months ago

ok so I will try this again....as my other post must have been deleted. Colt do you do any research on what happens in races that you don't attend????? A rider dnf's at a race and goes to the hospital on a backboard in a c-collar. Races the next day in mud, which she doesn't usually do well in and takes 5th. She loses 10, 10 places. Then someone who doesn't even race this past weekend and she holds her spot?????

With Samm on this one! Love the show, please don't stop! If you don't like I'm sure somebody's got a nice article you can read.

Big Fan- Have you ever been to a cross race much less raced one? Heckling is as much a part of the sport as 'working your ass off'. grow a pair or get get back on your road bike.

Big fan of Matty O 7 months ago

Lighten up on the punches dude. First Timmy and now Matty. Not cool. Rework your script and have someone proofread before you go live next time. These guys work their asses off and don't need the cheap blows. Buzz kill.

Man, comments are intense this week! You're all right!

Take a look back at the rankings from this time last season- a couple big moves up/down for some riders http://www.cyclingdirt.org/coverage/237687-Whos-1-North-America-Cyclocross-Rankings/video/363121-Whos-1-110210

Thanks for you wearing the tee on this weeks show. It was great meeting you and your dad, let me know if you guys ever need more tees.

Aaron J 7 months ago

DUDE! Where can I get that shirt? Vader and his troopers. Awesome.

Amy J 7 months ago

I feel like someone asks this every week but what's the deal with Jonathan Page? He was like 3 laps down in his last couple races!

JJ 7 months ago

Thanks Dave! Always good to hear from you.

In my humble opinion Ryan should be elevated to number one just based on the fact that he raced and laid it all on the line. J-Pow apparently was home resting. The fact that he was beaten by Berden, a former world cup winner-U19 world champion-U23 Belgian champion who had a great day should have no bearing.

Julie Krasniak. Nice rider but I felt so depressed after talking with her a couple times that head to Dusty's LTS truck for an espresso pick-me-up.
My best guess for Cincinnati is one win apiece for Powers, Trebon, and Johnson. Yes.....Johnson. One course there has some steps that Powers can ride but due to the length of Ryan's bike he must get off and hoof it.
Keep an eye on Summerhill.....he is the future and is getting better at cross. How can Barry Wicks be 24th in the country in cyclocross. That blows my mind. I wish JHK would race more. He obviously could be on podiums if he had the time to devote to cross.
Also shocking is Amanda Carey. How can this endurance mountain biker who was undefeated in the NUE series this year have come along so far in cyclocross. Fantastic.
BTW....you can buy Colt's T-shirt from the nice gals at Endurance Conspiracy....a rider owned organic company.

@patrickshank, Did you catch results from NJ this weekend?? Favata showed his best form of the season by far! Just like a guy can take a weekend off another guy can get significantly better over the course of a couple weeks. I agree Dillon could be a little higher but not more then 3 to 5 spots. At the end of the day does it really matter? You're either top 30 or you're just everybody else.

Hey WTF 7 months ago

Ease down, there, lonely boy.

Derek Schroeder 7 months ago

Yeah! Way to go Tristan! Congrats and way to rep Wisconsin!

patrickshank 7 months ago

@thomas - umm. . . beat myerson, durrin, clark and favata at Downeast for starters? so Dillon took a week off - what does that matter considering he's owned Favata, the top "ranked" rider of the 4 New Englanders I've noted on this list. Rest is part of the 'cross schedule - everybody does it, and I don't see how or why Dillon goes from 38 to 49 because of a weekend off.

WTF? 7 months ago

@gunnatellya,

You are completely missing the point!!! These rankings exist because of all the BS systems that are already out there. UCI rankings, USA Cycling Rankings, USGP rankings, Regional series rankings. They're all total BS!
If these rankings don't make sense to you it's because A) You don't know the sport on a National level or B) You're a homer. (probably both, which is ok. I'd love to see the PDX guys higher, but I also follow the sport and know they don't deserve it.)
Colt looks at every result around the world that these guys are in. There's not a lot of discretion to it. If one guy from the west coast comes East and finished 3rd, then goes home and races his local scene, you can compare. Example just posted to twitter---> Troy Wells came to East Coast and lost to Justin Lindine at Granogue in a very close race. SO, If you beat Troy the weekend before of after when he had a good ride, you could probably beat Lindine, and so on and so on. Craig Ritchy wining a lame UCI race with no body there doesn't stack up to Lindine winner a less lame race with an OK field, which doesn;t even come close to stacking up against Powers or Trebon winning a USGP.

Canuck-ville 7 months ago

Craig Richey won a UCI race last week and lots of people on this list haven't done that, and might not ever do that. Just sayin'. If he was some East Coast USA guy people would be all rapid about it and foaming at the mouth. But 'cause he's a stoic and manly Canadian he's probably ok with just letting the result speak for itself.

I'm gonna tell ya how to do yo 7 months ago

A system that could account for this many riders, all in context to one another, week in and week out, would be more sophisticated than I think someone could put together on a budget. Seems to be a lot of moving parts.

Maybe it could be tweaked though: race that week and move up a spot, don't race that week and move down a spot, finish top 10 move up 2, finish top 5 move up 3, finish top 3 move up 3, win and move up 5. Different races could be weighted differently. Sure, its tough to relate racers that don't ever go head to head to one another, but this way if a guy is wining East coast, he moves up, if a guy is winning West coast, he moves up too. One day they'll actually race head to head and decide it.

Thomas 7 months ago

@shank,

The rankings are 50% last weekend, 25% this season as a whole and 25% projected future results. What has Dillon done latly?
