If the ranking is only N.American's who are spending the season racing in the US shouldn't you pull Wyman, Field, & Dombroski out? You won't see them race again on US soil this season.

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

It's Ian FIELD, not FIELDS.

This is badass! Looking forward to Wednesdays now!

X-Project,

Thanks for the insight. That's exactly the kind of stuff we'll take into account in future weeks. Had things been dry on Sunday we easaly could have seen Yannick be top U23. Can't wait for Ft. Collins!
Good to hear from someone close to the camp!

X- Project 8 months ago

hi guys,
i would love to see Yannick Eckmann further up in your rankings. Considering he is 17 years old. In LasVegas he started as #64 far back and finished 16th. BTW he were at this days till 1PM at Boulder High school, next morning at 10AM he attended again HS classes. At USGP he started at Day1 in th last start row and finished up 16th. On day 2 he startedin the 5 start row and finished 12th. He also has two win in Colorado in the Pro 1-2 races already. just something to consider. BTW I love your reporting and what you do for the CX sports. Congrats guy's and girls

@Mary,

Probably get a lot more work done.

What would we do without CYCLINGDIRT?

Shut Your Mouth 8 months ago

Tim is a rusty old man. This is the year of the JPOW!

Colt McElwaine 8 months ago

Tim is only 34. I think we're still a couple years away from the Decrepit Old Man talk.

Without that crash on Sunday in Wisco I think he probably would have finished 3rd or 4th. His big goals are mid to late January. Give him time.

Ian/ vt,

I have to think it has a lot to do with his prep this summer. he "retired" from road racing and didn't really do much racing at all. At his age, I think it's that much harder to get back to fitness after letting it drop a bit. When you look at the guys who have been good at cross into their late 30's like Mark McCormick, they had more race days in a year than anybody. After 15+ years you recover quicker and should be able to handle more and more racing. I think you also need it to stay sharp.
All said, we'll see what happens in G-Star!

vt 8 months ago

At the gmsr tim didn't seem to have much pop in his leg. I wasn't sure if he was just dogging it or lack of form.

Ian McIssues 8 months ago

What's the deal with Tim Johnson so far? He just hasn't looked the same all year. Slow start or old age?

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

I like it!

This is tight! Nice work Colt.

Iglow 8 months ago

What the F is Page doing on this list! He's 10x more Euro than any of these actual Euros. The SOB doesn't even race Nationals anymore! Does Planet Bike Cup and Cross Vegas for his sponsors then Jets. Lameo.

Colt McElwaine 8 months ago

@StraightNinjaHoodYo, Didn't put Mani on for the same reason Bart and Rob aren't on here. Only here for a couple weeks. You've got to be from North America or be racing the majority of your season here.

G Block 8 months ago

AWESOME!

StraightNinjaHoodYo! 8 months ago

You missed Caroline Mani! She should be in the Top 5 after solid performances at Star Crossed and the USGP.

Mikey B 8 months ago

@Cody,

How do you put Sue any farther up? "last year" and "usually" have nothing to do whith how she rode last weekend. and the weekend before that. you could maybe make a case for 15th, but no where near top 10 right now IMO.

Cody 8 months ago

I think Sue Butler should be farther up the list, last year on Sunday of the USGP she Podiumed along side Gould and Compton. She also beats many of the riders above her in the rankings fairly frequently

funurdiesel 8 months ago

You're crazy for put KfC as #1 when she hasn't even raced yet. If she's not going to race then she shouldn't even make the list at all.

Noah Tautfest 8 months ago

Justin lindine needs more respect then that!! Move him up!

Andy Frakle 8 months ago

This is SWEET! CyclingDirt is doing BIGTHINGS!

Jed Zilla 8 months ago

Damn,,,Kabush looks beefy in that photo and I'm not just talking about his sideburns...
Thanks for the weekly rankings Colt!

Dan 8 months ago

#1 Joeeyyyyyyy!
#2 Trebon
#3 Powers
#4 Driscoll
#5 Page

24 seems really low for Tristan Shouten, but I guess he was pretty sub par in Madison. Too bad with that being his home race. I can't imagine he rides that poorly for much longer. He was fighting for top 5's all last year.

@David/Colt -

ah, I see ... I was confused when I saw Fields and Wyman on the lists - didn't realize they were doing a full season stateside. Bazin is still a beast!

Skreetch 8 months ago

Mikey, I'd agree with you if it were any other racer. But I agree with this one. Nash has beat Compton once ever that I know of? Katie's probably beat her 40 times? 7 time national champ, world cup overall leader, medals at worlds year after year... Hard to slot her any place but first.

Also, Great to see Troy Wells getting in there this week!

Mikey 8 months ago

Nash is RACING and keeps WINNING so it doesn't seem right to snub her again this week. I'm a KfC fan and I agree the she deserves a 'pre-season' #1 ranking, but once the racing starts the top spot should go to someone who is actually racing! AND if you're going to give her the #1 'out of respect' you should also respect her sponsors and get her team name right! Didn't she switch over to Rabobank-Giant Off-road?

Colt McElwaine 8 months ago

@Dave From trailwatch

List updated for Kathy Sherwin. Must have got lost when shuffling the names around.
@David Lowinoski
That's what I was thinking.

David Lowinoski 8 months ago

@Patrick-

Bart Wellens won this weekend too and he's not ranked. It's only North American's or guys who are racing a full season in in the US. My understanding was Bazin is just here for a couple weeks??
