Daveness,

The goal top 40 women and top 60 men every week. Takes a couple weeks to get there in the early season while things sort out. Guys ending their season early gives some new guys a chance to make the list. Coming in to Nationals, these are the contenders.
Registration is definitely down in the amateur categories this year, even with Masters Worlds coming to the US a couple weeks after. If reg is down a couple years in a row they will have to switch it back to make their $$$.

Perhaps we could have two Nationals, one in Wisconsin in January for those with a higher constitution and another in a warm location for those of a lower constitution!
There is no such thing as bad weather....just bad clothing.

Seeing as so many people are ending their season, Colt, shouldn't your rankings be shrinking in size, the same way they grow in the fall. I mean really are there this many guys to rank at this time of year.

I think Nats. in Jan. is great for the Elites. For everyone else I think it's really stupid. They might need to split elites and amateurs up in the future.

Colt, Colt, Colt! Now I know this is based upon Elite/Open races, but you have to give Kappius some love. The guy raced single speeds on Saturday and had a unbelievable race, Not only did he win, he passed every rider in the Cat 3's (not a fast catagory, but they did start 2min ahead of him)! Brady came by me like I was pedaling in mud...wait... I was, but the guy was moving throught the field like nothing I have seen before! Also, why didn't Pete Weber crack the list?!? The guy is 42 years old and still the most consistent rider in Colorado when it comes to big races. Colt, I have to give you a big FAIL this week!

Dear Santa,
All I want for Christmas is a new carbon cross bike with disc brakes and for Colt to get the "Who's #1" correct! I promise I was good all year.... besides the weekend of the USGP in Fort Collins.
Thanks!

@MD,

Believe me, I don't want to see him there either. But dood was legit this weekend at New England Championships! Was either add Chandler or drop off the guys already on the list that he beat this weekend..

MD 5 months ago

Chandler Delinks is in the rankings? Seriously, a guy who just moved up is in the top 50. Now I know this thing is fixed. Come on Colt!

Nats in January in Wisco = awesome. Winter break from school and 2 hour drive to see the pros. Couldn't get any better!

Dont like Nats on jan and Tim needs to step up come on Tim.

Very funny stuff again! January Nats sucks....especially since I have to interrupt my Christmas vacation to go to freezing Wisconsin. The racers who will be competing at worlds have plenty of opportunities to race in Europe for a month. It is sad to see so many top racers skipping nationals, especially our CURRENT men's champion! Geez.

Happy for Nicole Duke.....also Mo Bruno-Roy. Mo has has some impressive results this past week in Europe. Also, not surprised to see Kathy Sherwin's impressive power finally giving her some top results.
Glad to see Jon Page getting back on track. It would not be too surprising if he was top American at Worlds. One thing is for sure, TJ will prepare differently next year. For him to go winless in the USGP is shocking. It was sad for me to hear that he was a bit down on Koksijde, saying it was a course for "specialists". Tim, you ARE a specialist now.
Boy, you are sending Brady Kap into major depression. The poor guy is trying.....and I personally like him a lot. Have you ever seen his Dad race? Total kick butt rider.
Andrea Smith just told me she is moving to Phoenix! There goes the New England juggling act!
I think Nats is going to be the Powers/Johnson/Driscoll show. If it is snow, ice, and mud, Johnson's vastly superior bike handling should prevail.
I wish there was someone who could push Katie at Nationals. She needs as much competition as possible. She is just in a different league. The Antonneau/Duke/Miller show should provide the needed excitement however.
Wonder if Amy D and JP are coming home for Nats. Anyone know for sure?
My analysis of the most consistent male this year (based on your rankings and not counting Powers/Johnson) was Zach McDonald. The least consistent was Christian Heule.
Merry Christmas everyone!

NATS IN JANUARY IS A GREAT IDEA! NATS IN WISCONSIN IN JANUARY IS THE WORST IDEA EVER!

Jerome 5 months ago

Nats in January is how it should be. We want our scene to be like Europe's?? Time to follow their schedule because let's face it...they were doing this first!

Chicago Cyclocross Cup 5 months ago

As it turns out there is a race the week before CX Nats in Chicago... with a few pros showing up to race it... the Chicago Cyclocross Cup New Year's Resolution. Also, the Nats course is hard, we've ridden it.

Barry 5 months ago

Nats in Jan sucks and not to mention a horrible course choice to top it off

john doe 5 months ago

natz in january would be fine if there was a lot of races to do these past few weeks. and if they werent in f***ing wisconsin

Pierre 5 months ago
