Juniors and Under-23s: France and the Netherlands
France achieved a magnificent all-round performance in the Juniors race, monopolizing the first places with ClÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂément Venturini -- already winner this season of the World Cup race in Pont ChÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâteau -- and the brothers Fabien and Loic Doubey.
In the Under-23 race, it was the Netherlands who celebrated an excellent overall result: after a fairly agitated race, Lars Van der Haar crowned his excellent season by adding a gold medal to his World Cup success, thanks to a victorious sprint over his compatriot Mike Teunissen and the Czech Karel Hnik.
The overall assessment of the St Wendel 2011 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships is largely positive: more than 30,000 spectators turned out to watch the competitions over the weekend, and each race offered a high quality sporting spectacle.
