G Block: I don't even think I should be ranking 10th American. But to answer your question, it's because it's based on the past 12 months. Not just the start of the season. So, I went ok in the second half of last season, and I still have those points. My ranking will continue to drop unless my results pick up again. NBD. |

Lindine is a great race, a great regional racer. Thats it. Winning races against B fields doesn't mean you are one of the fastest in the country. When Justin starts to finish well (top 5) in big national level events, he will get the respect he deserves. But until then we will just be a good regional rider from New England. |

regardless of ranking, what's clear is that Lindine is trending upwards. he's on a different level this year, and now he has some confidence and knows how to FREAK OUT!! if he can avoid mechanicals and crashes (he has a history and habit of that), the results will keep coming. even with the bad luck he does alright - he bridged a 20 second gap to Driscoll and Powers (who were pushing hard together with world-cupper, Nicolas Bazin) and stayed with them to the line in Vermont, and he caught Troy Wells in Granogue after a crash that cost him a good chunk of time. |

I see the argument that Lindine could possible be ranked higher than 1 or 2 guys in front of him, but you could just as easily argue that 2 or 3 guys behind him are better. Chris Jones was on fire at Spooky and will pass Justin in a week or 2. Troy Wells could do the same. Brian Matter, Barry Wicks, and Alan Krugoff all could end the year better that Lindine! |

Pretty ridiculous to say Colt has a bias to anything west of the Mississippi since he has lived and raced in New England his whole life, and has only lived in Austin for a little over a month!! Falling off my chair laughing. After looking at the start list for New Gloucester, it appears that the competition is a bit thin. Lindine could again win both days but still not compete with anyone ranked ahead of him. However, since it is the only UCI race this weekend, shouldn't the higher ranked non-world-cup riders be making the trip to Maine? |

I follow your post because you are the only post I know of that uses a brain and current data to say "this week" these are the rankings. I like that. If I wanted a mathematical equation, I would log into USA Cycling. That by the way has LIndine at 3rd in the USA. I disagree with that as well (too high until he beats Johnson and others). Unfortunately your brain was not working this week and you rely on some bs equation to deny Lindine an advancement of position in your rankings. I agree that he should not pass Powers, Trebon, Page, Johnson, Todd Wells, and the other top 7 until he beats them in a race. But to disregard his last 7 races, in which he won 6 and to give rankings 8-13 a pass on your ranking (total silence by you) is not correct. I understand you have a bias toward anything West of the Mississippi (I like Colorado too), but use your brain. How does Shouten (who Lindene has beaten this year) and Driscoll (what did he do this weekend) stay in the rankings? If I want a mathematical formula, I will log into USA cycling. |

G Block and Ride Guy, Neither Sheppard nor Shouten have even been on a UCI podium this year. Most of Lindine's UCI points in his ranking are from this year, so I think its applicable. Lindine did a pretty good job matching McDonald at Gloucester. I guess will have to wait until Louisville to see is Lindine's improving form puts him into the top 10. But it still begs the question, how many times does he have to win races ahead of guys like Troy Wells & Mark Batty & Evan McNeely, & Derrick St. John to be consider legit. |

Barry has spent the past couple years transitioning to become a successful mountain bike stage racer in events like Trans Rockies and B.C. Bike Race. These endurance events are quite different training than the World Cups and Pro-XCT races he was specializing in a few years back....namely lower top end speed. Plus Barry moved to Chicago where everyone knows there is no place to actually ride your bike. |
