As the barely visable sun dropped and rain picked up the Elite Women started staging.  Nash, Mani, Duke, Miller, Krasniak all took to the front row eager to get the holeshot to have a good position into the first dark left turn. Katerina Nash (Luna) took the lead early on with Nicole Duke (Alchemy) on her wheel.  A chase group with a healed Meredith Miller (Cal Giant), Julie Krasniak (Rapha-Focus), Pepper Harlton (Juventus) charged hard on the loooong straight on both sides of the course.  Miller looked strong taking long pulls.  Mani had a bad start and took on chasing duting by herself closing the gap to Miller's group every lap.

As the rain came down the course went from tacky to soupy and slick.  A water hose used to fill up the Cesspool for Sunday's SSCXWC had a leak that flooded the area around the barriers making for loose footing when running with a bike.  Krasniak had a crash that seperated her from the group, as she grabbed a new bike from the pits she slipped behind Mani.  With 3 laps to go Nash put in a final attack that Duke could not respond to.  Duke slowly slipped back to Miller and Harlton.  With one lap to go Mani caught Miller's group, but didn't not stick around for long as she made her pass taking Miller with her into the final half lap.  Both rider wanting (needing) a good finish after a hard season took to the final long straight to the finish.  It was Miller that had the final kick to out sprint Mani for second place.  Harlton and Duke took 4th and 5th respectivly.
