September 9, 2012

created by: Thom Parsons

Fool's Gold 100 is part of the National Ultra Endurance Series and all governing rules of the NUE apply to the Fool's Gold 100. The 2012 Fool's Gold 50/100 will again be based out of the beautiful Montaluce Winery in Dahlonega, GA. As far as the course, expect lots of fast & flowy singletrack, some doubletrack, and a fair dose of gravel road grunts. There are a couple of longer sustained climbs, but the rollers will probably be the ones to get you. Terrapin Brewery is once again offering the Turtle Award for the last place finisher of the 50 and 100 mile races. The last racer to cross the finish line (completing the entire course) will go home with a case of Terrapin Beer! Sweetwater Brewery will award a case of beer to the 50 mile racer who finishes the course closest to 4 hours and 2 minutes AND the 100 mile racer who finishes the course closest to 4:20pm. There could be some close finishes here, folks..it is for beer, after all. Cash payout will go to the top 5 overall male and female finishers in the 100 mile race as follows: 1st: $500, 2nd: $400, 3rd: $300, 4th: $200, 5th: $100. All other top finishers will receive prizes from the race sponsors. Georgia Sports Massage will have therapists on-site for post-race massage.
