It was this time last year that Tim Johnson got his first elusive win of the season under his belt. The penultimate day at The Jingle Cross Rock was muddy mess of rutted out corners, steep run-ups and a sketchy decent. The technical course didn't leave much of any time for recovery as the field broke apart. Johnson was able to take the lead from early on a keep it till the end.
Johnson did have a secret weapon in the way of a prototype disc-equipped sled from Cannondale. It was a perfect weapon considering the course conditions. This year he will again be prototyping some new gear. Rumor has it he will be testing out some SRAM Red hydraulic disc levers. Will this be the small advantage he needs to edge out Ben Berden or teammate Ryan Trebon? And could this bring him back to his winning ways? With his results steadily climbing and a desire to defend his title we will see if he will be back on the top of the podium come Sunday.
Fortunatly, you will not have to wait to see all the action from Sunday. Thanks to Stan's No Tubes we will be bringing you all the action LIVE! Tune in to Cycling Dirt at 1:15pm Central on Sunday to catch the Elite Men's and Women's races. Not to mention pre and post ride interviews!
