If picking the Olympic Team were an Olympic sport I'd win 8 Gold medals. (Official Announcement: http://www.cyclingdirt.org/article/12984-USA-Cycling-announces-2012-London-Olympic-Team) |

Sorry but I don't think Ettinger has the experience needed. I worry he will crash and burn, figuratively. Todd Wells' fitness is always better the second half of the year. JB is also a good choice. He is hungry and ready for it. Send our very best and most experienced racers. There's plenty of time for the young ones in the coming years. |

The women are riding reasonable well. The men? I wouldn't send any of them. None have even come close to meeting the criteria, so why should we waste the time and money for them to show up and finish in the 20's. Choosing the guys based on their rankings when the rankings are in the 40's ? Are you kidding me, maybe in 4yrs they will take it more seriously and prepare for the races. |

I think you nailed it. Stephen's time will come. Well's serious injury in Africa is now in the past. When healthy he is unquestionably the fastest American. Georgia has a serious shot at a medal in London. Sorry to see the end of Mary McConneloug's run but age catches up with us all.It will be interesting to see at the end of this season which riders will join JB in the endurance/epic stage race world where top end speed is not essential. |

USAC should wait until after the Windham World Cup to make the announcement. Having the top Americans throw down in Upstate NY for the two spots. Wells and JB mano a mano. In addition to providing a true proving ground on who should get the honor, it will add some excitement to the World Cup on U.S. soil. |

@MTBlove, I'd also love to see JB go, but citing one good result from six years ago sounds like the definition of a fluke. Remember, you could make just as strong an argument for Ettinger as you could Jeremiah. Either way, it's in USAC's hands now. There's no wrong choice. |

JB and Schultz should be the ones going. Bishop had some bad luck in some of the races, but finishing 27th after a 95th starting position is no joke. 4th place last year at the olympic test event shows that the course is for him. Send Sam for his best American result and to develop him. |

The US has sent Todd to the Olympics twice already with underwhelming results. That, on top of a mediocre at best 2012 World Cup season should take Todd right out of the discussion. Mountain bike racing in the US has been hanging on the coattails of a bunch of old folks for way too long. It is time for fresh blood. Ettinger came out of nowhere last year and showed he can compete with the World's best. He is young and his meteoric rise is only going to continue. Schultz and Ettinger to the Olympics. The future is now. |

PDS, there is no "how they said" the team will be selected. It's very clear all the way through the automatic selection procedures. The only way to automatically qualify for the team ("how they said") based on WC series standings was to be the TOP us rider PROVIDED that rider is ranked in the top-15 of the WC series standing. No one made that clear distinction. |

Final stagings for US Men in the World Cup after 4 rounds. (Which is how the US said they would pick the team) Ettinger is obviously second American but he needed 4 races to be ranked 49th where as Todd made it to 50th overall with only 3 results. JB is right there is well but I think like Colt says Todd has the slightest edge. We'll see! |
