Full Suspension FTW 9 months ago

@dirtdad looks like taking the front suspension off was probably about as good an idea as riding a hardtail... seeing as how the winning bike is a full suspension bike. Specifically the Specialized Epic FSR.

dirtdad 9 months ago

I would definetly pull off the suspension fork for this course. Run full rigid that's all you need lightn up the bike about 2 lbs.

Check out the pre-race interviews with Gould, Wells, Davison.. They explain how it really is.

The film does not do it justice, its had great comments at the test events.

So... this is the course? Really?

Silly at best!!

HelenaAL 2 years ago

They should hold it in Birmingham... Alabama. Seriously. Oak Mtn is 1000x better than this sterile bunny slope.

I'll add to the utter disgust/ disappointment of this course. Olympics are supposed to show case the sports. This is soooo far from what mountain biking is about, it's pathetic! Shame on them!!!!!!

rodiau 2 years ago

Is this a parody? Was this video made by "The Onion"? Cyclocross (CX) courses are more difficult than this. What a laughingstock this is going to be!

I can't believe how bad theOlympic course designers are. I thought the Chinese course was lame, but this one is the worst! Very disappointing.

I'd fall asleep riding on that thing. Dalby forest would have been a better choice, but I guess the IOC want lame.

Peter Dy 2 years ago

just use the dalby forest wc course!!! yes, it's 4 hrs north of london (i think…) but it's so much better than this glorified bike path

mountaincross to himself 2 years ago

Dude, there is not figure skating at the summer Olympics!

mountaincross 2 years ago

Wow, that was lame. I might rather watch the figure skating in 2012.

Rather than import a ton of rocks to a bike path venue, why not just pick a good venue????

Cyclocross bike and take the smoother lines or a modified mountain bike?

Hardest Course EVER 2 years ago

That one tree is super scary!!! Sick rock gardens that should easily test any road bike. I will average about 30 mph on my TT bike, and then hopefully have some time to go find the mtn bike course.

Dan 2 years ago

So basically they will be riding on technical terrain for approximately 6 seconds per lap. This should be an awesome race. WTF!!

bikeman 2 years ago

Cyclocross cources are more difficult than that walking path. Mt. biking in Maine will really test your skills.

So is this is the kind of race course USAC is pushing in the states?

d 2 years ago

I guess it's a couple days too early to be an April fools. This course is a joke.

rockwell 2 years ago

Agreed. This thing is more for cat 3 racers that the world's best. ... Yawn.

Turbo 2 years ago

Not Olympic caliber! Looks like the greenbelt behind my house with a couple of rock piles.

what happened to mt biking? i dont knwo about these man made obsticles. they dont flow nor ride like when naturally produced. They act more like speed pumps in a parking lot.
