U23 Mtber 1 year ago

II understand Kevin had a good ride but 5 plus u23s are missing. He's a solid rider and while a top 25 is good, he needs to be getting into those low teens to get noticed.

Then it looks like he's on the right track to get noticed this year. Will his last two results get him better starting positions?

tex 1 year ago

Nope, he broke his arm and missed the whole season so he understands.

So Kevin has to buy his own bike? Lots of guys do. Besides the 8th place at Sea Otter last year, did he put up results last season that would have earned him a sponsored ride this year? I didn't see anything for Fontana, Bonelli, Texas, Wisconsin, Colorado or XC nationals.

The 18 year old second place U23 American was on a Specialized he bought. Does that count?

Cool to see these U23 guys gettin some solid support. I mean they are the future. Big ups to Trek and BMC. Where are Specialized, Cannondale, Kona, etc.

Maybe back for Sea Otter?

It's fun watching the U23 and Juniors because every year is different.

Finsterwald is out with a shoulder injury and Skyler is still in school. Not sure how Skyler will fare, but if you look at Finster's results last year him and Stephen were always neck and neck, and more times than not the young gun came out on top.. We've seen Finsterwald put some impessive results at sea level and Skyler also did well in European mountain bike races.

And speaking of U23, where are the last two 17/18 national champs - Trujillo and Finsterwald? As long as USAC is going to keep crowning them at altitude, I'm anxious to see how they fare at sea level where the rest of the world races.

Congrats to Kevin Fish. Keep it up.

Second US U23 racer. There was a Canadian U23 in second.

I guess you all missed the 18 year old that started at the back at Bonelli and finished 31st and then at Fontana was the second U23 racer in 23rd.

You have that right! We couldn't be more excited to see the next young crop of guys and girls making an impact at these first two rounds of the US Cup Triple Crown.

Kudos to Stephen, Zach Valdez, Raphael Gagne, Chloe Forsman and others that are having break out rides at the moment.

The new guard has arrived. U.S. XC future is secured. Congratulations Stephen.
