These are for real the most legit rankings in the US! You've been pretty freaking spot on all season long when you look at the weekend results and then back at these. Well done.

Montanacyclocross.com 2 years ago

Hi Colt,
Thanks for putting Lisa Curry on the list. It's our first Montana racer to make the list and it's big deal for us in this corner of the country. Thanks for the lists and the great work on your site. We look forward to welcoming you to Missoula for the Pro XCT next summer. We'll get you dialed in with home stays and whatever you want!
Best,
Shaun

You are correct that Jamey is not inconsistent in terms of being a top ten rider. But, his first race at Cross Vegas where he finished second was his best by far. It was also the strongest field, proven by the fact that the French champion Moureau won it. But then Jamey proceeded to finish 6th, 10th, 8th, 7th, 2nd, 4th in USGP races (which are the only ones that where all Americans are there). These all were lesser fields than Cross Vegas. I just had though he might be much more consistent this year in terms of being on USGP podiums. He is a great rider with a great future....but I think he is 7th right now in USA racing.

old man 2 years ago

we haven't really seen powers kill it in a while now. bad luck is probably a little to do with it. but i dunno if he is dominating like early season. he could just be building for nats tho.

page might just like the euro style cross races better. or he miight like getting paid to just show up.

im guessing johnson just had a bad weekend.

jamey hasn't be inconsistent. he's been moving up all year.

Hi Guys,
This past weekend is a bit hard to put into perspective. TJ seemed to suffer from the typical problems that Americans face when they go to world cups. Page, while still not 100% put in decent performances. Powers suffered from lack of A-level competition in Sterling. I can assure you he was on cruise control and those races do not give us much information on the next two weeks.

I think Page deserves to go back on top of the list. I am going to leave TJ second because he is the favorite (in my opinion) for Portland and Bend. Jeremy is so close behind it is really ridiculous right now.

Jamey....flashes of brilliance again at Jingle Cross but his inconsistency this year forces me to leave him at 7th.

Adam Myerson and Justine Lindine are almost identically fast after an hour of racing. If Myerson is 16th then Lindine should be 17th. I wish I could see their races in Rhode Island this coming weekend for the Verge Championship.

Travis Livermon was incredibly fast at Sterling.....and in the same league with Derek St. John. Both deserve to be ahead of Nick Keough who is progressing nicely but not quite there yet.

I am going to go out on a limb for Jesse Anthony. No freakin' way he can continue at a mid-20's riders. I think he will be top ten in Portland. i hope you read this Jesse!

Geoff Kabush. Having covered a hundred or so of his mtb races including a world cup win in Bromont, nothing he does surprises me. Given the competition at Portland, however, I think the chances of him winning there are not great.

ELITE MEN
1. Jonathan Page (Planet Bike)
2. Tim Johnson (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com)
3. Jeremy Powers (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com)
4. Todd Wells (Specialized/ Cal Giant)
5. Ryan Trebon (Kona)
6. Geoff Kabush (Maxxis-Rocky Mountain)
7. Jamey Driscoll (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com)
8. Adam Craig (Giant/ Rabobank)
9. Tristian Schouten (cyclocrossracing.com/Blue/Rolf)
10. Chris Jones (Rapha Focus)

Elite Women----
Katie's world cup win is one for the record books. For her not to prevail at nationals is highly unlikely. Her bike would have to fall apart but that is not going to happen. From Day One on these rankings I have been saying "Respect. Compton. Period"

Last week I ranked Amanda Miller ahead of Sue Butler. She is a shocker. So sorry she will not continue past this point. She deserves the #4 spot for this week.

What I saw at Sterling is this....on an open course Natasha Elliot is virtually the same speed as Laura Van Gilder. On a technical, twisty course Sally Annis, Mo Bruno-Roy, and Andrea Smith can be added to those two....almost no difference. I am moving Natasha in to 10th position.

ELITE WOMEN

Off to Portland. The racing is going to be INSANE

asf 2 years ago

I guess a win in a small uci feild in the US is better than having two solid rides at a world cup and Super Prestige...

Page will never get the spot he deserves

Peter Dy 2 years ago

@colt
i hear you on the traveling for page but it'd still be nice to end the speculation between page/johnson/powers at nats. but what can you do...

Anderson 2 years ago

Looking forward to your Stone Cold Lock of The Week ahead of Nationals haha

Thanks again for putting these out every week. Awesome!

skweekecheese 2 years ago

Coryn Rivera is the favorite in Bend for U23. Period.

Chris- NECCS this weekend is going to be sick for sure!

Mack Dizzle, socoollike- It's great to see Driscoll riding so well but I also have a feeling you wont see them go 3 for 3 in Bend. Too many variables to get in the way to the least of which being Ryan Trebon racing down the road from his house.

USAcyclocross- I'm with you. I think Kabush has a much better chance of wining one in PDX than he did in Ft. Collins.

Sup- You're right about Nick. Making an adjustment now.

Peter- As for Page, he made the decision to not race nationals before the season started. Just cause he's had some trouble and isn't riding amazing in Europe right now doesn't mean he should book a plane ticket and add more travel to his legs and be even worse when he gets back to Europe. He also still makes a lot in start money and so missing time in Europe and spending money to travel to bend hurts the wallet. That all said, it is very hard to imagine another top racer from any country skipping their National Championships..

wakaflaka 2 years ago

@sktchyD, I think James is right were she should be. Look back a few weeks in the rankings. She moved up a lot after her 2 UCI wins and they admitted in the video she should have been higher. But that wasn't exactly a stacked field she won against.

Peter Dy 2 years ago

hard to separate powers/johnson/page. page had a decent result at koksijde last weekend while johnson didn't fair so well. wish page would sack up and race nationals so we could settle this... he's not in the running for a world cup/superprestige/gva win (no american man is) so why doesn't he race for a national jersey? you wouldn't see nys, stybar, albert, etc NOT race their national championship race... other than that the men's side looks good. feeling a kabush win on one day of the USGP.

as for the women, it's great to see an american crush the euro field at a world cup. katie compton will win the world championship barring any unforeseen injury.

SketchyD 2 years ago

Surprised that Ashley James didn't crack the Top 15 after back to back UCI wins.

sup 2 years ago

think johnson had a bad weekend and will be back.

powers is probably the same. he trained right through bay state

if jamey keeps improving he going to be fast at nationals.

trebon would be bettter if he could turn his bike and not crash every corner.

nic keough shouldn't be ranked above lindine or st germane

wreckers77 2 years ago

Good to see VERGE series leader Justin Lindine tick upwards in the rankings. Should be a fierce battle between he and myerson this weekend for the title

I wouldn't be suprised at all if Kabush came in a upset things again in Portland with a win. He seems to always ride really well there and is on some A+ form right now. Don't count him out...

socoollike 2 years ago

I doubt c-dale puts more than 1 rider in the top 3 in Bend. Trebon will be there for sure and Wells will be very strong as well. Something will happen to Jonshon on Powers... flat, crash, etc.

Mack Dizzle 2 years ago

JAMEY DRISCOLL!!! take Page out cause he's not going to Nats and you'd have a C-dale 1,2,3 in Bend! Sick!

Luke Hansen 2 years ago

Hahaha, I second that about putting Compton in a bubble till worlds! Come on katie!

PDX Dave 2 years ago

Portland is going to separate the contenders from the pretenders this weekend. Rain in the forecast means we are going to have a slog it out race of attrition. Winner on the first day there wins Nationals 9 times out of 10.

Chris Mui 2 years ago

Lindine VS Myerson is going to be the best race this weekend! If you thought Adam winning a UCI race was a big story imagine if he won the whole freekin series!!
