Colt, you gotta take a look at Lisa Curry (GAS, Bozeman, MT). Two top 20's in Fort Collins (only lady to ride the run-up). Yesterday, 11/26/10, Curry was 6th at Jingle Cross finishing right behind Carey and ahead of Studley, James, Stetson-Lee, Haskell, and Sone. She's gunning for the mstr 30-34 race at nationals. She's peaking at he right moment. Expect big things at Pdx and Nats.

Great list this week. Just one question...
No Alex Candelario? He is killing it.

Classic Cycle 2 years ago

Unrelated to Colt's weekly list, which I thought was awesome as usual, does anyone know why Cyclingdirt keeps jamming up my computer? I have windows vista, which may be the problem, but I have to wait like 5 minutes each time I touch this site, and it's the only site that gives my computer trouble.

Nice job in the list. Sue Butler raced in the Oregon State Championships this past weekend and she looked in top form. She was a lap in front of the women's elite field (and most of the men's elite field for that matter). I think her time off due to illness will end up serving her well at Nationals.

See you in Portland! Woot!

Stoked to see this list, Keep it up Colt!

Hi Guys,
Checking in after a sunny week off in Tucson. Good rankings.....just a few changes are in order in my opinion.

**Congrats to Davide Frattini on his best cross season ever. Hope you enjoy a few well deserved weeks off.
**Nick Keough- Long road back Nick but glad to see you are getting back to the front where you belong.
** Todd Wells- had dinner with Troy and Todd in Tucson. The leg is well healed.
** Troy Wells- Did everyone notice his amazing 6th place in Fort Collins? He is still improving.
** Tim Johnson- As I have been saying for a while, TJ would end up on top of this list
** Jon Page- He should be number two based on racing in Europe last week. He actually looked better than TJ who could not crack the top ten despite his front row start.
** Jeremy Powers-shut out of the Fort Collins weekend. He slips down below Page
**Geoff Kabush- The BEST race of the season in Fort Collins. He crushed everyone to move to sixth on my list
**Todd Wells- Putting Todd #4 since I think he is a lock on a Bend podium spot
** Jamie Driscoll- Amazing when he is good, but inconsistent. It was cool to watch him battle with Kabush
** Ryan Trebon-What can I say? Ryan should be #2 based on his talent but he quit on himself during the Sunday race in Fort Collins....something I have never seen TJ do. I am moving Trebon to fifth
**Barry Wicks-how could you have fallen to #16?? You have much more talent than that.

What is really amazing is that we have four guys ranked in the top twelve by the UCI !!

ELITE MEN
1. Tim Johnson (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com)
2. Jonathan Page (Planet Bike)
3. Jeremy Powers (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com)
4. Todd Wells (Specialized/ Cal Giant)
5. Ryan Trebon (Kona)
6. Geoff Kabush (Maxxis-Rocky Mountain)
7. Jamey Driscoll (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com)
8. Adam Craig (Giant/ Rabobank)
9. Tristian Schouten (cyclocrossracing.com/Blue/Rolf)
10. Chris Jones (Rapha Focus)

On the women's side...
*** LVG continues to be ranked third in the world. Incredible. In fact half of the top ten women in the world are from the USA if you include Katerina!!
** Katie Compton- still number one but Katerina proved she may have an edge in a slippery, muddy course. Both women missed a bike transfer in Fort Collins so any claim that it cost Katie the race is wrong. It evened out since Katerina overshot her bike and then actually dismounted.
** Katerina Nash- I wish she would apply for USA Citizenship so we could fully claim her as ours! Tough bike racer who learned to give 110% at all time as an Olympic cross country skier.
** Sue Butler- Question mark in my mind. Sue has returned from a nasty two week illness. How much that is going to cost her I do not know.
** Amanda Miller-the biggest shocker to me in the past couple weeks. I Know of Amanda's impressive road resume but could not believe how well she handled the Fort Collins course to take 5th and 9th over the weekend. I am moving her up to sixth.
** Georgia Gould is in a league of her own...behind Katie/Katerina but well ahead of everyone else. If the conditions are right in Bend, she could give Katie a run for her money.
** Meredith Miller proved on Sunday in Fort Collins that she belongs ahead of Amy Dombroski
**Alice Pennington-Impressive but I am not ready to move her into the top ten quite yet.

I will be at the Baystate race this weekend. Can anyone beat Powers and Van Gilder?

GDHSJ 2 years ago

I do not think Page will return to the US. He has bought a house in Belgium and his kids go to school there as well. I think Page will either find himself on a euro cross team such as Babaco or some smaller proffessional team, or perhaps get signed with a major team such as Fidea or BKCP although I think he needs some more top results in order to do so (he is on the right track), or finally he will just call it a career and do something else here i Belgium to make a living.

I can see why Johnson is ahead of page... But not quite.

Page raced saturday in Hasselt... Rough start but move up well.
The next day Page was ahead of Johnson all day except for the last lap when he had a bad crash.. So Johnson had fresh legs and still did not 'dominate' Page.

But a result is a result so for now Johnson will stay ahead of page until koksijde.

But why is Jpows #2 he didn't even race this weekend?

hold the pickle 2 years ago

it looks like all those clowns calling for Page's head on a platter after his Madison interview got what they wanted... I'm hoping he gets signed and comes back to race a full US schedule! When he left for Europe in the first place it was because there was no competition for him here. Well I think he'd have plenty now. Imagine the cyclingdirt interviews if Page and Johnson raced eachother every weekend lol! Plus it'd be nice to see someone be able to challenge powers/johnson for a change!

So Page and Compton are out of a job after this season with Planet Bike pulling out. Where do you think they'll end up for 2011/2012??

Mack Dizzle 2 years ago

Crazy how fast the season has gone by! Star Crossed feels like just a couple weeks ago! I'm really looking forward to the season getting another month next year with Nats moved to Jan and the Masters Worlds coming to the US!

Davide Frattini 2 years ago

Ciao Colt, yes correct, my cross season is over (my road season start in Argentina in mid Jan).Keep up with the good job and good luck to my american collegues for the rest of the season. See you next year!

Joseph Schmalz (KCCX/ Verge) added to the ranking! We've been missing him for a few weeks with some solid results. Thanks for the heads up guys! Who else??

mtbcx 2 years ago

James comes from the frozen land as Matter Antonneau and Schouten. She hs no other options but to be fast!

Alex D 2 years ago

Thanks for making these happen every week! You guys are the best 'cross news out there this year! Keep killing it!

Adam,
Brian moves up from 15th to 11th this week. Had him on there twice, that was a typo! A great Jingle Cross could put him in the top 10 by next week..

Adam Myerson 2 years ago

Brian Matter wins back to back UCI events, and he moves DOWN the rankings?

David Lowinoski 2 years ago

J Page stopped being American to me the day he announced he would slip US Nationals to collect start money in Europe. I say take him off these rankings.

Fro Joe 2 years ago

Ashley James is the REAL DEAL. For Real! Watch out USA women!
