You are correct that Compton and Nash have met only once. I had forgotten that Katie was registered for Cross Vegas but did not race due her knee. All the others in the top five were there. LVG did not crack the top ten listed below. http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/cross-vegas-c1-1/elite-women/photos/142425

Colt.....cool, ICEMAN.....I know you've heard the stories, they are all true. Welcome to Michigan, perhaps I'll see you there................

Tim Johnson IS #1! Has been since DAY 1! He struck first winning the Green Mountain UCI weekend and has kept winning ever since. It's been close with he and Powers going blow for blow but nothing I've seen from Jeremy gives him an edge over Tim (he's wearing those stars and stripes for a reason)

Name one example where Jeremy edges out Tim this season??? He doesn't he's only matched him.

JJ 3 years ago

Dave to my knowledge they have never all raced this season. Top 5 that is. Compton and Nash have only raced the once at the Swiss World Cup. Nash wasn't in Wisconsin or Louisville or Boulder this past weekend. Actually, I don't think Nash has faced LVG yet this season either. LVG skipped Wisconsin and raced VT and the Boston crit. Nash hasn't raced in the states since. On top of that we've seen Butler and Dombroski very rarely this season as well. Guess what I'm getting at is Ft. Collins USGP Women's Race is going to be LEGIT! Most of the top 20 should be there and all of the top 10. I say Nash and Compton split with Gould giving a good battle both days at her home town race.

Dave McElwaine F 3 years ago

Yes. For only the second time this season Compton, Gould, Nash, Miller, and Van Gilder will go head to head at Fort Collins USGP. That should settle things for a while. Will be there of course. This is going to be exciting!

So hard to rank the women 5-20... Any one of them is capable of having a podium day on any given weekend but the competition is so deep this year it's just been back and forth all season. Looks good for now but as the weather starts getting colder and the courses get muddy I think you'll see a lot of those Colorado/ Utah ladies start to slip and riders like Natasha Elliott, Mo Bruno, Wendy Williams, Andrea Smith (basically New England/ Portland riders) start to move up.

Again, thanks for this! Fun was to catch up on who's doing what.

JJ- Kabush talked about this in an interview earlier this season. This it was after Star Crossed maybe... If you check out his speaker page you can find it there.

Anyway, came down to $$$. No on was paying for him to go and there was no prize money. He's already won it 5 or 6 times and didn't see the value in loosing money to try and do it again. That was a month ago, not sure if it's still the case.

JJ 3 years ago

Canadian Champs this week! My money's on Natasha and Derek! How sick would that be to have them both wearing the Maple Leaf for the next year?!

I don't see Kabush's name on the start list. I remember hearing something about him not going. Any details on that??

Dave McElwaine F 3 years ago

Good job. Not too many arguements this week. I have been touting Wells for weeks now. Unfortunately he is likely to sit at third for a long time. Ultimately my guess is that Tim Johnson comes back to the top of this list. He is one mean bad ass on the bike. Hard to see him losing at nationals especially if there is snow and ice on the ground as there was last year.

Ryan's groin pull moves him down a spot just as JP's injury did to him last week. I am glad to see Summerhill comiing into form. Nobody can touch him this year at nationals. Jamey Driscoll was impressive on Sunday but still has been inconsistent. Also, Driscoll could not ride the barriers at the Boulder Cup and lost to Wells as a result. http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/boulder-cup-cyclo-cross-c1/elite-men/photos/147413

10. Davide Frattini (Hudz-Subaru)

Katie Compton just seems cursed sometimes. On Saturday she tangled with course tape that was blowing in the breeze. Sunday's course had new grass clippings on it which probably contributed to her crash that day. The cornver was also the most treacherous of the day, and MANY riders went down. What is really freaky is that the Grim Reaper was standing right where Katie fell ! http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/boulder-cup-cyclo-cross-c1/elite-women/photos/147445

I have to admit I was shocked to see Katie ride away from Georgia as quickly as she did on Saturday. When healthy she is unbeatable in the USA. I am moving Georgia up to second place this week. On these dry, fast, power courses I believe she would beat Katerina two out of three times. I base that on having watched dozens of races by both of them in person. I wonder if Katerina is going to race at Fort Collins. Going to check on that.

Nicole Duke is the real deal. What she did this weekend was impressive indeed. I believe she needs to be 7th ahead of Amy Dombroski who was down will an illness picked up on the plane ride home from the Czech Republic.

I am keeping Teal Stetson-Lee at 10th. Her 5th place at the Boulder Cup was no fluke, This is no disrespect of Dede but the level of competition at the NACT race was one of the highest of the year.

Shout out to Craig Richey (36th) making the list this week. His form his coming perfect for Nats next week. He's a real threat for the victory.

jon 3 years ago

I'm a huge nerd and look forward to this every week - thanks Colt!

I think 12th at Koppenbergcross earns Christine Vardaros a spot on the list.

K 3 years ago

Why does injured Ryan Trebon beat out injured Jonathan Page?

JP Hurt his back and then on Sunday in Zonhoven he had a great firs lap in the chase group with Neils Albert, Klaas Vatnernout (Riders that none of these guys on the list could ride with).. Then the back comes back and he has to quit. He still goes out on Monday I think again to confirm his series contracts and leads the first lap and then crashes and has a day filled with mechanicals. At least 4th place...

Ryan Trebon came out with some really good form and looked like he was going to turn things around but I think he has in a way given up... So we will see if he can hold onto a top 5 position.. I hope he can take it this year at US nationals.

CRCD 3 years ago

Put Jonny Bold on the list! He raced Elites both days this weekend and landed on the podium both times. Beating #35 Manny Goguen on Saturday after racing masters the SAME DAY! Guy is KILLING it!

ellen 3 years ago

It's going to be so great to see those top 10 women finally in the same race! It seems like there's never more than 5 of the top 10 in any single race. When's the next time Compton, Nash, Gould, etc will all be on the line together?

Steve- valid points about Myerson. Made adjustments. We weren't giving him enough credit for his Saturday performance. He still moves down 2 spots this week. Summerhill undeniably rode stronger in Colorado. Luke Keough did the same thing as Myerson sitting on and out-kicking Lindine but he did it while training thru the weekend and without much trouble.

Smith is no so easy to move around. I also believe she'll be fighting for top 10 next time she gets a chance to race all the best, but in the meantime, you can't afford to loose local races. Without one of the top women there to judge it's hard to tell. Maybe both of them would have been top 10 in Boulder, but we'll never know. Will watch closely at Northampton this weekend. Thanks for the input.

Steve 3 years ago

How can you move Myerson down? On Saturday he was in perfect position to take the win at Beacon in a sprint before flatting on the last lap. He followed it up on Sunday with a 2nd place finish. Gotta give him some credit for following up his W with another strong weekend.

Also, I think Andrea Smith is better than 27th. When she gets back into some bigger races, she'll be battling for top 10 again, no question. Crystal Anthony may have won Canton, but it was perfect for a triathlete like her. Not saying he doesn't deserve her spot, just that Smith deserves better.

just the facts 3 years ago

Nicole Duke was 3rd this weekend! THIRD! She needs to move up. I say she's 6th right now.

PDX Dave 3 years ago

Solid Solid Solid across the board. They should do start order at Nats based on this!

Thanks for the hard work. this can't be easy to put together.

Mike 3 years ago

I'm digging the ongoing pro bike feature that you mention in this vieo. That's great content to measure out when there are no fresh race videos to watch.

Van Guilder top Miller this week IMO.

Miller has been better when she's on but has been very inconsistent. LVG has been top of her game every weekend and beat Miller head to head more than once. It's close, sure, but not that close.

andy 3 years ago

Too bad to see Lindine sliding back the last few weeks. I really thought we were going to see him keep improving this year into a solid top 10 guy like Dan Timerman was last year.

Speaking of which, WTF happened to Dan Timerman? Don't see him on here anywhere..

Mack Dizzle 3 years ago

Tristian Schouten top 3 in Bend! Mark it down!
