"If a race were held TODAY for a $10,000 purse"

I am sorry but Jamey Driscoll would take that. When there is money that kid races hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martha Swanson 3 years ago

Nate, your points are all valid. But lets look at the facts:

5 times Powers and Johnson have raced. Powers takes the edge 3-2. All 3 times Powers has beat Johnson have been coming off at least 2 rest days (Vegas, USGP #1, Gloucester #1). The other two (USGP #2, Gloucester #2) Tim has won and Jeremy has finished a close second.

You also have to consider Powers might just be playing the good teammate role. USGP and Gloucester Powers had already won, maybe on day two he is giving Tim first dibs on making the attack...

We wont see these two race again for a few weeks as Johnson goes to Providence and Powers to Cincinnati. Wouldn't be surprised to see each of them sweep the weekend.

Nate 3 years ago

Are you kidding? Tim can get it done on any day! Powers is strong true, but how much is the team thing playing into a true Johnson chase. I would also say Trebon will be a man on fire this weekend ( as long as his "nerve" doesn't act up ) so he should move to 3rd.

Steve, you're totally right. Fixed*

Altho, it's not Gloucester that gets her in the top 15. Her 7th and 8th there was good but she's got top 5 or even top 3 potential when she's going well. Her USGP results from the weekend prior were solid tho. Two good days in Providence will bump her up for next week..

Steve 3 years ago

How can you leave Andrea Smith outside the top 15?!?! Look at her results this season!

WiscoX 3 years ago

I agree with Nash 1, Compton 2 so far, but we all know Katie is going to win all three days in Cinci.

Looking forward to B Matter moving up next weeks review...... If cross racing was judged like monster trucks you would be ready to open the show with flash cards and all it seems..... Weighall.....Sunday.....Sunday....Sunday....Nitro burning......Tire peeling......Ass kicking excitement! Keep it coming guys.

Respect.Compton.Period.

Some people have succumbed to adversity. Katie finds a way to overcome it.

Dave,

You can't put Katie ahead of Katerina. Katie has dominated the women's field so far this year where as Katie has done just enough to beat Georgia twice. Past results from last year and years past have almost nothing to do with rankings today. (ex. Barry Wicks) Even if they did, last year Katerina got very close to Katie in some of the later races and even "beat" her at worlds/ final world cups when Katie wasn't able to race. To be totally honest, if they held a race for $10,000 on Sunday, Katie would probably get injured on Saturday and not start.

1. Nash
2. Compton

for now at least.

Couldn't argue with any of these. Nice to see some midwestern love on here!

Dave McElwaine F 3 years ago

Well....Colt and Nick nearly got this right. It is fine to not mention Mary M since she is not really racing cross. Georgia almost always beats Meredith and belongs in front of her. Laura Van Gilder is on her game and deserves a higher ranking. Teal and Sue suffer from very poor competition levels this weekend and need to be lower. While Amy did not race on Sunday she is one of America's best right now.

You continue to dis Jon Page. He needs to be higher. Jesse Anthony came out of his shell on Sunday and will be a player the rest of the season. Craig and Wells....nothing is important to them except peaking for Nats. Nick should be no lower than 20th !!

If a race were held TODAY for a $10,000 purse, here is how I think it would come out....

did Page do anything this weekend?

Anna 3 years ago

Sid Taberlay was good in California. Why no mention?

David,
You can't not move Teal up after taking two UCI wins. That's just huge. Plus a few women who were in front of her slipped a bit this week.

And he doesn't live in North America, but HUGE props to Joachim Parbo for taking himself a Win at day 1 on CA! Love to see him riding well.

David Lowinoski 3 years ago

Solid Men's list. Women I have a few suggestions.

1. Compton
2. Nash
3. Miller
4 Gould
5. McConnolouge
6. Van-Guilder
7. Dombroski
8. Butler

2 wins for Stetson-Lee is impressive, but who did she beat? Don't see how you can really move her up.

PDX Dave 3 years ago

Jesse Anthony only 14th!? He KILLED it Sunday!! 7th IMO.
