Ooops. I agree about McConneloug. Probably would put her fifth after Dombroski.

I don't think they were literally questioning who she is, just bringing up the point that a lot of people wouldn't think to rank her in the top 10 yet because they didn't see the results from NH last weekend. Just like even more people missed Justin Lindine and Natasha Elliot winning in Rochester, NY.

All in all these are excellent rankings rankings. Looking forward to 'cross season on Cyclingdirt! You guys are doing great things for the sport!

Questioning who Van Gilder is shows how you are ignoring the mid atlantic. She has like 300 wins in her career.

Troy Wells ? averages right? I was in the group with him at vegas. Enough said.

What about jesse anthony?

jon 2 years ago

McConneloug's performance in Vegas alone should earn her a spot in the top 10.

Luke Hansen 2 years ago

Page #1. Everybody else LAST!

Greg, Fab,

Fixed! (Always forget someone the first week!) Troy had a great 2 days in Seattle, solid Vegas, and top 10 first day in Madison. DNF on Sunday.

So true, Troy Wells needs to be on here. I'd say right around 11 or 12...

what's up with Troy Wells?

What's the deal with Barry Wicks? He won the USGP overall a couple years ago and was always on the podium and winning some races. Now he's never even top 5. What happened to him? He's still young too, right?

pdx racer, thanks for the catch! Stupid mixup on my part.

And coldn't agree more about Babcock. Guy is for real!

Sean Babcock has earned a 13th place ranking. Last year, his first year at nationals, he was lined up in the last row (literally) and fought his way up to 23rd. This year:
Starcross - 16th
Rad Racing - 13th
USGP Planet Bike # 1 - 16th
USGP Planet Bike # 2 - 13th

I think you mixed up Windy Simms and Windy Williams. I am a big fan of both, but it was Simms who took second at Starcrossed and Rad Racing.

Love the idea of having some solid rankings that actually relate to who's the fastest rider. Non of this b.s. who got points here and who has the money to travel there, etc. That said, here would be my top 5/10.

1) Compton
2) Nash
3) Dombroski
4) Williams
5) Gould

1) Johnson
2) Trebon
3) Powers
4) Kabush
5) Craig
6) Page
7) Shouten
8) Driscoll
9) Wells
10) Wicks

Good question about Luca. The list is for North Americans (or riders like Nash and Frattini who live and race here the entire season.) That's also why riders like Mourey and Heule are not on the list. As far as I know Luca will not be racing the 'cross season here in the US. (Bio says he resides in Italy: http://www.velobios.com/riders.colavita2007.damiani.htm) Anyone know his plans this fall?

Jake 2 years ago

mtber, he's Italian.

What about Luca?

You guys make a good team! Let's see Nick in more of these videos!

Jbone 2 years ago

Sean Babcock 13th? Come on, he's not even in the top 25! All in all these look good. Except Decker needs to be on there.

Thanks guys!

While Katerina is one of my favorite racers of all time, until she beats Katie for the first time in the USA I will give the American Champion respect. If we are talking about what results would be if they raced today.....
1. Compton
2. Nash
3. Gould
4. Dombroski
5. Van Gilder
6 Bultler
7.Miller

For the men, Johnson just needs a bit more base and recovery time and he should be #1.
1. Powers
2. Johnson
3. Page
4. Trebon
5. Driscoll
6. Kabush
7. Schouten
8. Frattini
9. Wells
10. Craig
