The Sea Otter is easily the worst course on the national series for filming a bike race. With 19 mile laps and no dirt within miles of the start/finish, most wouldn't even try... Not Cyclingdirt. With the help of Ty Kady from the SHO-AIR/ Specialized camp and Epic Action Sports Helmet Cams, we were able to film the un-filmable.

I'm sorry, I hate to be this guy b/c I love mountain bike racing and I know Sea Otter is a huge event, but this has to be one of the douche=iest courses out there... I had no idea! Thanks for the coverage nonetheless Colt.

'Best Helmet Cam' immediately made me think of Old Caz G'hopper 1 and 2, especially with the Barry Wicks Super Sweet Mix Tape influences. However I notice you give it the runner up spot. Old Caz footage might be the best XC 'movie' ever made.

Lots of great helmet cam videos this season, especially from all you users, but in the end the BEST HELMET CAM VIDEO goes to the Pro Men's XC from the Sea Otter Classic. There were definitely better quality videos out there along with some killer trail riding, but it's hard to beat riding the wheel of the world champion at race pace during North America's biggest mtb race. Credit goes to Ty Kady for driving the moto all day with the camera running. Below are a few others that were in the running. If there's one you like better, post it here in the comments and tell us why!

TOO SWEET! I've been looking at FloTrack and FloSwimming for more than a year now and thinking, "Man, I wish they had a site like this for mountain biking."

And, holy cow, they do.

Why don't we hear more about the 19 year old Rob Squire, he finished 21st at Fontana, 35th at Sea Otter XTC, 18th at Sea Otter STXC, 4th at Sagebrush Safri. He's two years younger than any riders in the top 40 and only been riding a year. How does he do it?

The site is great! Thanks for all your hard work. And it's super cool to see this video. Keep it up! Did you guys get to have a motorcycle on the course? Otherwise, if you've got a rider fast enough to keep up with these guys, get him a sponsorship! :)
One small thing to make future videos better (from a class I took from a professional videographer): watch your screen direction when editing. If the riders go left to right in one scene, don't let them go the opposite direction in the next scene. It's jarring to watch and confuses the viewer.
