Day One- Powers wins but Timmerman gives him a run for his money. Justin Lindine bridged up to them at one point but had to settle for third

At one point Justin Lindine bridged up to Powers and Timmerman but could not hold it. Soon thereafter Jeremy took off for good.

Andrea Smith turned some of the fastest women's lap times today and got herself within striking distance of Mary Mcconneloug. Mary of course made winning look easy. With winds gusting up to 45 mph, Mo Bruno-Roy took third....not great conditions for her.

Jeremy Powers took an expected win today in Sterling, MA at the VERGE Baystate Cyclocross. Powers came down with the flu two weeks ago forcing him to skip NJ's USGP rounds. To make up for the missed UCI points, Powers is racing local this weekend to earn a few more points and sharpen his legs a bit more before heading West to Oregon. VERGE series leader Dan Timmerman finished a close second ahead of Justin Lindine. Jerome Townsend showed a return to form finishing 7th as the top U23. With the absence of Canadian Natasha Elliot this weekend, Mary McConneloug now has a mathematic possibility of winning the VERGE overall series. She took a step in that direction today winning convincingly over Andrea Smith and a resurgent Rebecca Wellons. Mo Bruno was 4th. Full report coming soon.
