BC Bike Blog Vol V.

Welcome back for week five of the Cyclingdirt BC Blog. This week we decided to return to the video format. The video details our bikes, and gives you a tour of our bike shop here at the 497. Look for more equipment profiles in upcoming weeks.

In addition to the video, we also thought we would throw in a quick recap from last week. Canada Cup #2 was held about an hour and a half north of Montreal at Mount Tremblant. The course was very different from Baie-Saint-Paul. Instead of being very tight with short punchy climbs, Tremblant has longer, more sustained climbs, and some steep technical descents. The field at Tremblant was noticeably larger. About 20+ more pro’s than the weekend before. Andrew had another stellar race repeating his 12th place finish from last week at Baie St. Paul. The rough course left its mark on John’s bike, bending his derailleur hanger, and causing his chain to over shift into his spokes. Although he lost a large chunk of time trying to remedy his situation, John stuck it out and finished the race.

Our goal of hitting up the Root 66 New England Series event on Sunday in Vermont fell through. We ran into problems coming back into the U.S. It took the border patrol over an hour to search our car which delayed us enough to miss the start of the race. Since we were already in Vermont, we decided to hit up Kingdom Trails, a trail network in East Burke. Bike Magazine recently rated Kingdom Trails one of the best trail networks in the US. It was just what we needed to blow off some steam and log in some great training miles.
