Round one of the Canada Cup Mountain Bike Series went off yesterday under a sunny sky in Baie Saint Paul, Quebec. Derek Zandstra ran away from the field in the Men's race and left a handful of Canadians to fight for the podium. Andrew Watson proved strongest in the chase pack and took second. The top American was Andrew Freye out of Maine, riding for the Gary Fisher 29er Crew. In the Women's race, Emily Batty put on a show for her Canadian fans and proved her early season results have not been a fluke. She is fast, and getting faster by the second. Amanda Sin recovered well from a not-so-hot race last weekend to take a solid second place.

Gotta love the multi lap races for video. You get to see so much of the course and what a course it was. Typically Canadian with technical, sandy singletrack winding through the forest.
