Thursday's In Medford are Champion Thursday Nighter's A local Crit type road race that runs around a drag race track. This being my first year doing road race, I have modist goals for this year.. First, I would like to finnish in the Peleton. I know this may seem somwhat of a strange thing to aim for, I want to be middle of a pack finnisher! Yeah!. In all seriousness When there are only A & B cats with no age & skill seperation within, I think this might be feasable. Second, I want to win an intermedeate sprint for points. So far my best run ne...
So I am sitting here reflecting on a mountain season past, reflecting on my efforts of this year, & reviewing my results. Mudslinger....20min faster, same bike & gear ratio. Chain Breaker....again faster, same ratio. Ashland, 8min behind my target time, 2x1 ratio. TOE....The race I trained all year for, great first lap, on target for my target time of sub 6hrs.....lost all feeling in my legs, finished 20min slower this year. 50 miles & 8000ft of climbing I was fried. So here I sit reviewing all thing and noticing The you tube mike put up after ...
The Bog Dogs have entered the fray in the Root 66 Northeast Cat 3, 30-39 division. My brother Kevin and I have begun contending wholeheartedly. What began as a fascination at the Fat Tire Classic is now a full blown addiction. You can't get us off our bikes... Winsted Woods - The low mountains of Northwestern Connecticut provided an interesting venue for our first Cat 3 race. A cool May wind forced us to wear long pants and an under shirt but it didn't cool down our spirits. Facing off against two series leaders in Josh Simpson and Rob Tandy wa...

Rim Nordic. This course represents true mountain bike racing in California. Located in Running Springs, this venue is just 30 minutes (give or take a few) outside of Big Bear City in the San Bernadino mountains. Riders flock to this venue for the mountain scenery, the vibe, and of course competition. But this one is not for the faint of heart. The course takes place at around 6,000 ft. above sea level – which for those of us in SoCal is a big deal. That's serious elevation for us. It's also predominantly tree covered single track, making...

It has been a few years since I raced at Elings Park. It was my first mountain bike race four years ago. I will never forget the temperature, sweltering hot, well into the 90's. The festival was a buzz with riders and spectators. Trucks stacked with DH bikes routed up the hill, Super-D practice swirled around the XC course, and the BMX course was like a skate park. I didn't know what to expect, but the flurry of activity was an amazing dynamic in itself. At the start I was nervous with butterflys. I didn't have any preconceived notion of what ...
