I ended up having my typical xc race, tire problem, crank arm came loose, DFL but I had fun its hard not to on the course at Windham, its a purpose built race course. I tried to make as much noise as possible for the pro race and take photos, the photos suffered. Ive got two more MTB races planned for the season the Suicide Six and Race with the wind, then its all about cross looks like Ill get in 11 or 12 CX races this season between NYCross and other races in the state.
The course is fantastic Ive done six laps even though I told myself before riding I was only going to do four. I cant wait to race on saturday. I decided to brake out the big orange monkey drum for the pro races, I'm bringing the noise NYCROSS style, Mt Snow was way to quite this year.
This past Sunday I race at the Highland forest classic in Fabius NY it rained for pretty much the entire race, but that was kinda nice beeing that it kept the mud from getting sticky. I finished 5th in the expert 30-39 catagorie. So Im looking at the weather for the next couple of days and now I think I should give the Mt snow USCup a go, I will probably drive out tomorow to take a look at the course and see how its looking and riding, the only thing nawing at me about it now is seeing the lap schedule, 4laps for cat1 Nooooooooo! three laps at ...
This past weekend I raced at the Kenda Classic at Mt Snow, it was brutal. The course is essentially the course they'll be using for USCup race it is a shorter loop but by no means easier. My race went to mt snow spec for me minus the DNF, first lap my front tire burped like it just had kielbasa and beer filled with some CO2 no problem kept going(little did I know I had a fist full of dirt in the bead) second lap half way up the big climb front tire soft again put some more CO2 get back going, on the way down the decent BURP! that's good kielbas...
This past weekend I raced at the six hours of power in Ellicottville NY, race #2 of NYSERS. The field was pretty deep 83 starters in the solo category and 40 teams. The race started with about a 200yrd run that worked out alright for me I started at the back and ran my way to about mid pack. The course was pretty challenging allot of single track which was great until you had to pass or be passed by someone. Pat Wallace won the solo male category and Michelle Johnson won the women's solo, I was 35th solo overall and 11th 30-34 age g...
This past Saturday May 16 was the first race of NYSERS(New York State Endurance Racing Series)held at Highland forest park in Fabius NY, the weather was great for the first five hours after that a thunder storm moved in that produced a tornado 10 to 15 miles away from the race, other than the crazy weather the race was great. I don't know the results yet because I didn't stick around afterward (I was waterlogged) the race field was much larger than last year hopefully the results will be posted on the Bike lofts website soon. The next NYSERS rac...
The Ramble around Prattsburgh is a 30 mile race that's run largely on dirt roads with a token section of single track at a mile to go in western NY. The bike choices were split between mountain bikes and CX bikes I chose to ride a CX bike that was great on the climbs and the flat sections but a bit sketchy on the descents I finished 39th of 100 finishers,I lost probably a minute when on the second to last turn my oxygen deprived brain decided to turn me in the wrong direction even though there was a corner marshall. Anyways It was a good race a...
