So I recently(JUNE) put on my first bike race series this year. When all was said & done, I think I would have made somewhere in the $.10-$.20 an hour range for all the work it took to put on. I just want to take a moment to get up here & say, one the record, for all the world to hear:
THANK YOUR RACE DIRECTORS, PROMOTERS, SPONSORS< OFFICIALS, & VOLUNTEERS!!!!
Without all of their hard work, there would be no racing in this country. The amount of work it takes to actually put on a bike race or series is crushing. Mine was only a small local race of about 35-45 riders per race. It took me the better part of 3 months to get set up & race ready. I know it seems like not much time, but I inherited this race from another promoter.
That being said, the city of Jacksonville was wonderful enough to invite me to place an additional event on in 2010. After meeting with some of the city officials, It now looks like 2 or 3 events will be happening,
First, they wanted me to put on a full cross country event
Second, I proposed a Crit race in downtown(the first held in Jacksonville)
Third, they are inquiring about a downhill event with me and another local promoter Mike.
If all goes well, I think that this could be a great & substantial race here in Oregon. & (if all goes well in getting the event set up through the city) I am officially offering a 10% discount to any cycling dirt blogger! If you preregister for one or both of my events.
Just keep your eye on the Oregon cycling calendar for next year & when registration opens, check back in for further details.

Awesome! Thanks for all the hard work Joseph!
