As part of his reward for this years third place overall finish at the La Ruta de los Conquistadores, Federico Ramirez Mendez, better known as "Lico", was invited to travel to Breckenridge, Colorado, USA in 2011 to take part in the Breck Epic Stage Race.
Lico, the 5 time La Ruta champ, talked to CyclingDirt about the opportunity after stage 4. "It's very important to me. I've thought about going the past three years and I really want to go. I did NORBA's for a few years and had a good time. I'm looking forward to going back."
He will likely see some familiar faces in Colorado such as this years 1st and 2nd at La Ruta Ben Sonntag and Alex Grant, along with La Ruta veterans Jeremiah Bishop and Blake Harlan. He may also find some Costa Rican competition in the form of 2009 La uta Champ, Sho-Air/ Specialized's Manny Prado.
