UPDATE 7/25: Allen Krughoff has been awarded the contract! Krughoff and Nicole Duke will join the Raleigh/ Clement team this season!

The first Cyclocross race of the season went off Tuesday night in Park City, Utah at the Raleigh Dealer Camp Midsummer Nigh CX! Heavy hitters were in the house including Cannondale/ Cyclocross World riders Ryan Trebon, Tim Johnson, and Jamey Driscoll. Belgian Ben Berden and France's Caroline Mani were also on hand to fly the colors of the newly formed Raleigh/ Clement Cyclocross Team.

With this race acting as more of a training race for the top guns, the story we were all following was the Race For A Contract. Raleigh/ Clement offered up two team sports for the first Male and Female finisher "without contract." Check out the rules and preview here.

In the Women's race the spot will go to 2012 USA Bronze Medalist, Nicole Duke. Duke spent this past season as a member of the Cannondale/ Cyclocross Word squad but was not re-signed for 2013. This win and contract will see her race for Raleigh/ Clement for the 2012/2013 season, including all four rounds of the USGP.

On the other hand, the Men's contract winner is not so clear. It seems there are different interpretations of just who qualifies for the available team spot. Allen Krughoff finished 5th and many believe he is the deserving recipient of the "best without contract" prize. However, 3rd place finisher, and former World Championship Silver medalist, Jonathan Page, looks to also be in the running. Page is a multi-time US National Champ and still one of the top US 'cross riders in the field today. After riding for a string of US and European based teams over the past decade, Page arrived at the start in Park City without a Title Sponsor to his name. We spoke with Jonathan about his sponsor hunt and desire to return to racing in the US at the National MTB Championships in July. The latest word is that he is talking with the Raleigh team management and is interested in the offer that would provide him with bikes and a full season of USGP racing in the States.

We'll update you here when a final decision is reached. For now, let us know how you think should get the deal!?
