DW-Very good question. From what I heard USA Cycling set that point structure up.
Sounds like a good idea to award points maybe to 50th?
From looking at the results, the guy who finished 25th at Windham was a lap down, that was over 21 minutes + of the winner and 14 minutes off the top 10. The guy in 50th was 3 laps down at that point.
You can't just award points for just showing up and riding, then there is nothing to strive for. That is how people get better is striving to break that top 50 or 25. If the series was as deep with talent as a World Cup, then maybe you would offer more points.
But at some point, these "Pro's" need to be realistic about there abilities and face the fact at 32 your not going to make up 25 minutes on Kabush or ever crack the top 10 at a PRO XCT.
Again, they could all smoke me on a bike, so its not like I'm stating there slow. Its just that if we want to develop better racing in the States, are guys are going to have to dig a little deeper to crack that top 25 or 30 for points, But to go 75 deep when there is only 75 guys on the line, and 13 DNF'd or DNS, well that doesn't sound legit to me?
